Warranties

The trouble with some warranties is that you don't really need them. When you buy electrical items like DVD players they are now so cheap that if they break you could buy a new one for much less than you would spend on the extended warranty. Even items like netbooks and BluRay players, right now they are still expensive buy buy the time your item might break a replacement would be so much cheaper.

Other items like mobile phones can often be covered by your home contents insurance if they break, and the manufacturer's warranty often covers it without the need to buy extra cover from the mobile network provider.

But when it comes to your car the extended auto waranty makes sense. When your car breaks it is unlikely that you will be able to fix it yourself. You will have to pay for someone and that can be expensive. You don't be able to throw it away and buy a new one like a cheap netbook computer. If something goes wrong within the first few years it could reduce the value of your car when it comes to resale. With the extended car warranty you can get your car working again, it works out much cheaper and the investment in your car is protected.

If you are interested in such cover, have a look at the US Direct Protect website. They are a national seller of extended car warranties. They use some tailored software that lets you shop around to see what coverage would be best for you and your situation. So, you can get the best price for what you want.
